How to Style with Zebra Print

Our designers dish on how to do zebra print.

1. Use zebra as graphic art in a black & white space.

If you gravitate to high contrast black and white furniture, then zebra print is an easy solution to add a pop of wild style in a sleek room. Adding natural elements with a graphic organic pattern like zebra print can give your space just the right amount of earthiness, while keeping your contemporary aesthetic intact. We love how zebra print looks paired with black and white artwork and furniture with clean lines. Top off the look with gorgeously layered leathers and glossy finishes for magazine-worthy design.

2. Mix zebra with other animal prints.

Layering several high-end animal prints in one space is not for the faint of heart, but the look is show-stopping! The important thing to remember when mixing animal prints is to use the right ones. There are so many animal prints out there that can look cheap or underwhelming. At James Décor we only carry and work with the best lines, so there’s never a question with our prints. Mix and match any of our pieces for a look that will have your guests' jaws dropping.

3. Pair zebra with bold color.

The graphic style of zebra print always pairs well with color. The two complement each other so well! You can style it with a multi-color gallery wall or with one bold piece like the yellow Vanguard dresser above. The bolder the color, the bigger the impact.

4. Style zebra with traditional patterns.

Mix it up and pair zebra print with more traditional patterns like chinoiserie. There’s no reason that traditional spaces can’t have a touch of zebra print, but you need some contrast to go along with it. Bold prints like the chinoiserie and florals make perfect companions to striking zebra print, and the overall vibe is eclectic and smart in just the right ways.

5. Try zebra print in other colors.

Feeling like zebra print is too loud for your home? Not to fret. You can still have zebra in your life in the form of a more toned down print. We love these Slipper Chairs at $2,035 each by John-Richard. They still have a slight safari style, but the zebra upholstery is more subtle, and the lines of the chair are more traditional. These would look beautiful in a living room with a more neutral color palette. Stop by our showroom to see these for yourself!
